Good News! Google, through their “Google My Business”, is again publishing descriptions about businesses.
“Google My Business” is that block of detailed info on businesses when you make a search. It provides some photos, hours of operation, Q&A and more.
The guidelines for posting a description about your business are not too restrictive. You can use up to 750 characters (250 characters are displayed with the rest tucked away under a “Read More” link for the remainder). You can’t use HTML or URL’s. Currently Google is monitoring these so don’t try to cram too many keywords or other questionable techniques. It will take a few days for them to approve your words of wisdom so you don’t want to wait for it only to find you were rejected.
Don’t use this section to announce your weekly or monthly specials. Google offers a section called “Posts” to inform your visitors about specials. Check that out as well to enhance your search engine optimization tasks.
